Springfield, MO (December 12, 2024) – Springfield police officers are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred Wednesday evening at the intersection of West Kearney Street and North Broadway Avenue. The crash was reported around 6:30 p.m., leaving one person with injuries.

According to the Springfield Police Department (SPD), an SUV traveling east on Kearney Street was attempting to turn north onto Broadway Avenue when it was struck by a red car running a red light while traveling west. The collision caused the SUV to be significantly impacted. The driver of the red car, suspected of being under the influence of alcohol, fled the scene on foot, heading south. As of now, their whereabouts remain unknown, and police are continuing to investigate the incident.

A passenger in the SUV sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and care. The driver of the SUV was uninjured but was shaken by the events. Authorities are working diligently to locate the suspect and have urged anyone with information to come forward.

SPD has indicated that alcohol may have played a role in the crash, and they are exploring all avenues of investigation to locate the individual responsible for this hit-and-run.

Our thoughts are with those affected by this incident, and we wish the injured passenger a swift recovery.
