St. Charles County, MO (May 18, 2025) – Emergency responders were quick to the scene, providing care to the injured victims following a two-vehicle crash involving two Chevrolet Silverados on eastbound Interstate 70, just east of Wentzville Parkway early Saturday morning. The crash led to one man being transported for medical treatment and caused extensive damage to both vehicles.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 7:35 AM when a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 23-year-old man from Moscow Mills, MO, was attempting to turn left onto eastbound Missouri 94. At that moment, a westbound 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, operated by a 62-year-old man from St. Louis, failed to obey a traffic control device and struck the front left side of the turning vehicle.
Both trucks sustained extensive damage and were removed from the scene by Superior Towing. The younger driver was wearing a seatbelt and sustained injuries. He was transported by private conveyance to Progress West Hospital for evaluation. No injuries were reported for the other driver.
Troopers from Troop C and additional support units assisted at the scene. The incident remains under investigation as officials assess whether further action will be taken regarding the traffic control violation.
Our thoughts are with the injured driver, and we hope for his full recovery.
Traffic Signal Violations and Crash Risks in Missouri
Failure to obey traffic signals is a leading cause of crashes at intersections across Missouri. Incidents like the one on I-70 near Wentzville Parkway highlight the dangers posed when drivers disregard signage, particularly at junctions involving high-speed traffic and complex merging lanes.
Data from the Missouri Department of Transportation indicates that traffic control violations contribute to nearly 40% of all crashes occurring at intersections. These violations range from ignoring stop signs to running red lights or failing to yield at controlled turns, each carrying the potential for high-impact collisions.
Intersections along major routes like Interstate 70 and Missouri 94 serve both local and regional traffic, often under tight timing and fast-paced flows. When a driver fails to obey posted control devices, it not only endangers themselves but creates sudden and dangerous scenarios for turning vehicles and cross traffic.
Seatbelt use, as in this case, plays a critical role in minimizing injury severity. While the injuries sustained were reported as minor, victims are always encouraged to seek medical care and monitor for delayed symptoms such as whiplash, bruising, or joint pain.
