St. Charles, MO (February 21, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision on eastbound Interstate 64 early Friday morning resulted in injuries to one driver and significant vehicle damage.
According to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 5:36 a.m. just east of MO-94. Authorities say a 2016 RAM 1500 attempted an improper lane change, causing its rear left side to strike the front right side of a 2023 Jeep Gladiator. The impact sent the RAM into a spin before it veered off the left side of the roadway and crashed into a concrete traffic barrier.
The driver of the RAM, a 29-year-old man from Marthasville, MO, sustained minor injuries despite wearing a seatbelt. Emergency medical personnel from the St. Charles County Ambulance District transported him to Progress West Hospital for treatment. The Jeep’s driver, a 46-year-old man from St. Charles, MO, was unharmed and was able to drive his vehicle away from the scene. The RAM sustained total damage and was towed by Superior Towing.

Lane Change Accidents in Missouri
Improper lane changes are a leading cause of highway accidents in Missouri, especially during early morning hours when road conditions and visibility may be challenging. Failing to check blind spots, misjudging the speed of nearby vehicles, or making sudden lane shifts can lead to serious crashes, such as the one reported on I-64.
Collisions involving barriers often increase the severity of damage to vehicles and raise the risk of injuries. Defensive driving techniques, including signaling lane changes early and ensuring sufficient space before merging, can help prevent similar incidents.
For individuals injured in lane-change accidents, understanding liability and insurance coverage is crucial. Seeking legal guidance can help accident victims recover compensation for medical expenses, vehicle damage, and other losses.
