St. Louis County, VA (September 18, 2023) – A boat crash on Rainbow Island, Daisy Bay, occurred on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 9:03 p.m.

St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office reported a pontoon striking the island on Lake Vermilion.

Rescuers found a female passenger ejected from the boat onto the island.

She received first aid before Tower Ambulance took her to Virginia Hospital for non-critical injuries.

The boat’s driver was also transported to Virginia Hospital as a precaution.

Both individuals hail from the Twin Cities metro area and are visiting for vacation.

Nighttime darkness, speed, and alcohol appear to be factors.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene.

The investigation is still ongoing.
