St. Louis, MO (October 23, 2024) – A vehicle accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon at approximately 3:27 p.m. on Westbound Interstate 270, just east of Interstate 170. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following reports of the incident.
Preliminary investigations revealed that two vehicles were involved in the collision. A 2010 Dodge Challenger, driven by 22-year-old Tyron J. Willis from St. Louis, MO, sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene. The driver was not wearing a safety device at the time of the accident and was transported to Mercy Hospital St. Louis with moderate injuries.
The second vehicle, a 2022 Toyota Corolla driven by 23-year-old Annie Kane from Godfrey, IL, incurred minor damage and was able to be driven from the scene. Reports indicate that Kane was wearing her seatbelt and did not sustain serious injuries.
According to the accident report, both vehicles were traveling westbound on I-270 when the Dodge Challenger, traveling too fast for conditions, changed lanes from lane 2 to lane 4 in an attempt to avoid another vehicle ahead in lane 2. This maneuver caused the Challenger to lose control and slide off the roadway to the right, striking a guardrail (Impact #1). The vehicle then returned to the roadway and collided with the front right of the Toyota Corolla (Impact #2) before traveling off the road again and hitting a second guardrail (Impact #3).
