St. Petersburg, FL (September 18, 2023) – Early Saturday, September 16, 2023, a crash on I-275’s exit ramp to 54th Avenue North took a man’s life.

Sara Elizabeth Murphy, 36, drove south on I-275 and lost control around 4:30 a.m.

The car veered off, hitting a tree on the ramp’s east shoulder.

A 48-year-old male passenger from St. Pete Beach died on the spot.

Murphy sustained serious injuries and received treatment.

Authorities arrested Murphy for DUI manslaughter and suspended license involving death.

The investigation is still ongoing.
