State College, PA (July 26, 2023) – On Monday afternoon, July 24, 2023, a tragic collision between a bicyclist and a vehicle claimed the life of a State College resident.
The incident occurred around noon on the 3500 block of South Atherton Street.
A 70-year-old bicyclist, initially on the bike path, entered the roadway and collided with a vehicle on Atherton Street, according to State College police.
The impact threw the bicyclist off their bike.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene despite first responders’ efforts to save their life.
The driver of the vehicle, also a State College resident, remained uninjured.
The police report indicates that drugs or alcohol did not contribute to the fatal crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
