Surry County, VA (May 16, 2023) – O man has died as a result of a motorcycle accident that took place in Surry County. The victim was identified as 40-year-old Christopher Downey.
Reports provided by authorities show that at approximately 8:30 p.m. on May 14, the Virginia State Police responded to the scene of an accident on Route 31.
Reports show that a 2018 Nissan Altima was traveling east on Route 10. As the vehicle passed through the intersection of Route 31, the driver attempted to make a turn without yielding the right of way. As a result, the vehicle collided with the 2014 Kawasaki Vulcan.
The motorcyclist, identified as Downey, was ejected from his vehicle. He was rushed to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he passed away from his injuries.
The driver of the Nissan, 65-year-old Rhonda Green, was transported to Obici Hospital with minor injuries. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
