Taos County, NM (October 25, 2022) – A group of teenagers was reportedly involved in a car crash that left one deceased and six others injured near Taos. The fatal crash occurred early Sunday morning, October 23rd, on Cordovas Road.

Reports show that a silver Jeep Patriot occupied by seven teenagers was involved in a crash that left the vehicle overturned at the scene. One passenger was partially ejected from the vehicle, and emergency crews arrived at the scene a short time later.

The partially ejected victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Three other occupants were airlifted to the University of New Mexico Hospital to be treated for critical injuries. The other three occupants were transported to Holy Cross Hospital. Their conditions have not been reported.

Alcohol and speeding appear to be contributors to the crash, and 18-year-old Haley Martinez is reportedly facing charges. Martinez is being charged with 8 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor as she allegedly hosted a party that served alcohol to the teens.

No further information is available. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
