Apartment Fires in the Bronx
Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for landlords, managers, and property owners to take shortcuts so they can increase their profits in spite of the risks it will pose to residents. If negligence by one of these people aided the fire in any way, you could have a valid claim against them. A skilled New York personal injury attorney will fully investigate the events preceding it and recognize any plausible violations like:
- Failing to properly inspect and repair extinguishers, smoke alarms, overhead sprinklers, and other fire prevention and detection devices
- Failing to operate in accordance with fire and building codes
- Failing to fix or replace faulty and/or damaged appliances, electrical wires, gas lines, or other potential sources of fire in a timely fashion
For your claim to be successful, you need to prove that the fire was caused by someone else’s negligence. An experienced attorney will know how to investigate the incident, review insurance and real estate documents, and analyze damages and other evidence to ascertain who might be statutorily liable for your injuries or the death of a family member.
Being injured in an accident can be an extremely disruptive, frightening, confusing, and overwhelming time in a person’s life.
