Thoreau, NM (May 23, 2023) – On Friday, May 19, an alleged drunk driver collided with two police vehicles in Thoreau and left three people with injuries.
At about 6:40 p.m., the collision was reported close to the intersection of US-66 and NM-371. According to reports, an SUV plowed into two New Mexico State Police vehicles after barreling through a checkpoint at high speed. Two individuals and a nearby police officer were struck by the SUV.
The three patients were sent to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries. It was later revealed that Joshua Floehr, 35, of Bloomfield, was arrested for DUI among other charges associated with the collision.
No new information has been released at this time.
The cause of the collision is the subject of an ongoing investigation.
