Uniondale, NY (January 28, 2021) – A Long Island teen was killed in a two-car crash that took place on Wednesday afternoon, January 27th. The fatal accident that also left others injured was reported at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Front Street in the Uniondale neighborhood of Long Island.
According to authorities, a 15-year-old sophomore at Uniondale High School was riding in a vehicle with three other teenagers when they were struck by an SUV at the intersection. The impact of the crash caused the vehicle with the teens to strike a pole and emergency crews were at the scene a short time later.
One 15-year-old male victim was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased victim was described as a rising basketball star on his high school team.
The driver of the SUV, identified only as an 87-year-old, as well as other victims, were taken to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. No further information on the wounded parties has been released.
