Caroline Co, VA (January 12, 2021) – Two people were killed during a motor vehicle accident on Route 301, also known as Richmond Turnpike, in Caroline County on Tuesday, January 12th.
The victims have been identified by the Virginia State Police as 50-year-old Jason Williams and 55-year-old Wendy Terrell, both residents of Hyattsville, Maryland.
The accident took place at about 1:15 p.m. on Richmond Turnpike, just south of Doggetts Fork Road. around 1:15 p.m.
Police think that the 2004 Ford Explorer, being driven by Williams, was traveling northbound and attempted to pass another vehicle inside of a no-passing zone. Then, in an effort to avoid oncoming traffic, the vehicle swerved off the lefthand side of the turnpike, crashed into a tree, and flipped over.
Both Williams and Terrell were pronounced dead at the scene.
