Charlotte, VA (December 15, 2020) – One person lost his life in a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred on a roadway in Charlotte on December 12. The reason the accident happened is under police investigation at this time.
According to the Virginia State Police, a pedestrian was crossing Kings Highway near American Dream Lane when he was struck by a Chevrolet Suburban headed east at approximately 10:00 p.m. According to the accident report, the driver of the Suburban could not avoid striking the pedestrian.
The deceased victim was identified as Tevin. R Smith, 28, of South Boston. He was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision by responding medical professionals.
The driver of the Suburban was only identified as a 73-year-old man from Powhattan County. He sustained no injuries in the accident.
No other information has been released at this time. An active crash investigation is currently underway.
