Fairfax County, VA – Injury Crash on I-66

Fairfax County, VA (September 5, 2020) – A car accident caused injuries on a roadway in Fairfax County this evening. 

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene of the collision that took place in the eastbound travel lanes of I-66 about 2.4 miles west of I-495S at approximately 7:22 p.m. on September 5. 

The cause of the wreck has yet to be determined by local law enforcement officials. 

Emergency medical technicians assisted those with injuries at the accident site, however, it is currently unclear how many people were hurt and how badly. 

The area of Interstate 66 where the accident occurred near mile marker 62 was closed while first responders worked at the site of the crash. Police investigated and assessed the resulting damages from the wreck, paramedics rendered aid to injured victims, and fire crews cleared the roadway of remaining debris in order to safely restore normal traffic in the area. 

The roadway has since been reopened. 

No further information has been provided concerning the details of the crash at this time. 

An investigation is currently pending into the circumstances of the wreck.
