Harrisonburg, VA (November 15, 2020) – A motorcycle struck a pedestrian at an intersection in Harrisonburg Saturday, November 14, around 12:30 a.m.
The accident killed both the motorcyclist and the pedestrian.
The motorcyclist, identified as 28-year-old Jeremy Baugher of Dayton, fatally struck the pedestrian who was walking in the crosswalk at the intersection of South Main Street and South Avenue.
The pedestrian has been identified as 18-year-old Maylea Beasley of Virginia Beach.
Witnesses present at the accident scene stated that the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed just before the accident occurred.
Both persons involved in the wreck were pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision by responding medical professionals.
The Harrisonburg Fire Department, the Virginia State Police, Harrisonburg Rescue Squad, and the Accident Reconstruction team from the HPD all attended the crash scene and are assisting with the investigation.
