Norfolk, VA (August 12, 2020) – An auto accident involving multiple vehicles occurred on an interstate in Norfolk yesterday afternoon that prompted an emergency response.
Paramedics, police, and fire crews were called to the scene of the wreck that took place on Interstate 264 in the westbound lanes near the intersection with Ballentine Boulevard.
The incident took place at approximately 1:10 p.m. on August 11 when for unknown reasons, two or more vehicles were involved in a collision on I-264. The cause of the accident is currently under local law enforcement investigation at the present time.
Paramedics were present at the accident site shortly after it occurred in order to render aid to anyone who was injured during the collision. However, it is currently unclear how many people were in need of emergency aid and no one involved in the wreck has been identified at this time.
The extent of any injuries suffered also remains under authority investigation.
The crash closed three travel lanes of I-264 for approximately 3 hours afterward in order to allow emergency responders to safely evaluate the cause, liability, and injuries. The interstate was reopened at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
