Petersburg, VA (January 07, 2021) – A woman was killed on Wednesday, January 6th in the city of Petersburg when the vehicle in which she was riding repeatedly flipped over along Interstate 85.
Virginia State Police have since identified the victim as Jessica Davis, 27, a resident of Richmond.
Police reports state that the accident took place at about 3:50 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 85 by the exit for Squirrel Level Road when, for reasons that have yet to be determined, a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a 19-year-old male veered off the righthand side of the roadway. The Tahoe then swerved back across the interstate, flipped at least three times, and finally came to a stop next to the jersey wall on the lefthand side of the roadway.
The driver, whose identity has not been released, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
After being ejected from the SUV, Davis was transported via ambulance to a local hospital. She was pronounced dead a short while later.
