Rockingham County, VA (July 27, 2020) – A fatal car accident took place on a roadway in Rockingham County this past Friday afternoon that took the life of one individual.
According to Virginia State Police, the crash took place on Route 33 ) at approximately 3:35 p.m. at Route 602.
Wayne L. Long, 90, of Harrisonburg was driving a 2008 Lexus RX350 and collided with a Dodge Ram 2500. Long was transported to UVA medical center for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
A passenger present in the Lexus at the time of the crash, Ann Long, 88, also of Harrisonburg, was taken to Sentara Rockingham Memorial hospital where she was treated for life-threatening injuries. However, Ann Long later succumbed to her injuries and passed away.
The driver of the Dodge, a 21-year-old unidentified male from Aroda, did not receive any injuries in the accident. However, both vehicles involved in the collision retained serious damages in the wreck.
Charges are currently pending, according to local news sources.
An ongoing crash investigation by local authorities will continue.
