Staunton, VA (August 4, 2020) – An auto accident occurred in Staunton this past Tuesday, July 28, that took the life of one teenager.
At approximately 10:45 p.m. last Tuesday evening, local authorities and paramedics responded to a call concerning an accident that took place in the 400 block of Richmond Avenue. The crash occurred between a 2016 Toyota Camry being driven by Nathan E. Langgle, 19, of Craigsville, and a 2007 Honda Element being driven by Dean A. Smith, 21, of Harrisonburg.
According to the accident report, Langgle was headed west on Richmond Ave when he crossed the centerline for unknown reasons, causing a head-on collision with Smith’s Honda.
Langgle was pronounced deceased at approximately 11:25 p.m. on August 28. Smith was transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center by helicopter for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
No further injuries have been reported at this time.
Both vehicles sustained significant damages in the wreck and the roadway was closed down while police carried out an initial investigation into the circumstances of the wreck.
