Waynesboro, VA (July 28, 2020) – A fatal motor vehicle collision took place at an intersection in Waynesboro this past Thursday that ended the life of one Lyndhurst man.
Paramedics and other first responders were called to the scene of the crash that occurred at the intersection of U.S. 340 and Va. 631 (Ladd Road) at approximately 4:00 p.m. on July 23.
According to a release from the Virginia State Police, a dump truck was headed north on U.S. 340 driven by Charles E. Morse, 56, of Arrington. At the same time, Davis R. Angus, 89, of Lyndhurst was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Ladd Road from U.S. 340 in his GMC Canyon pickup truck. The Canyon turned into the path of the dump truck, causing a collision between the two vehicles. The dump truck could not avoid hitting pickup, according to the release.
Angus was transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Morse did not suffer any injuries in the wreck.
Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
Nothing further has been released at the present time.
