Wythe County, VA – Two Police Officers Injured in Rear-End Crash On I-81

Wythe County, VA (December 16, 2020) – At approximately 7:40 a.m on December 14, a Wythe County police vehicle with two officers in it was struck from behind on a roadway in Wythe County. 

Paramedics were dispatched to the scene of the wreck in order to assist the officers who were injured when a 2005 Toyota Camry traveling north on I-81 struck their patrol car. 

The troopers stated that their vehicle was parked safely on a shoulder of the roadway with its emergency lights on at the time of the collision. The two troopers were transported to Wythe County Community Hospital for treatment.

Information around the severity and scope of any injuries that resulted from the incident has not been disclosed to the public. 

The Camry’s driver is being charged with reckless driving. He was identified as 25-year-old William Porter.
