Volusia County, FL – Fatal Head-On Crash on Pioneer Trail Claim 1 Life

Volusia County, FL (July 22, 2023)- According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 62-year-old Sanford woman was killed in a head-on collision in Volusia County on Friday, July 21, 2023.

At 2:20 p.m., an incident happened on Pioneer Trail, east of Tomoka Farms Road.

The woman was heading west in her Mazda CX-5, and the Melrose man was heading east in his 2007 Sterling truck tractor.

The Mazda suddenly swerved into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with the truck as it traveled east.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, tragically.

The truck driver was unharmed. Each driver had on a safety belt.

The investigation into crash is still ongoing.
