Wallkill, NY (March 4, 2021) – At around 10:20 a.m. on Wednesday morning, March 3rd, authorities with the New York State Police responded to a fatal trucking accident in the town of Wallkill. The crash happened at the intersection of Long Lane and New York State Route 17K, according to reports.
Officials say that 77-year-old Kathleen Stirling, of Bloomingburg, was operating a 2012 Toyota Highlander when she attempted to make a left turn at the intersection. Her vehicle was struck by a westbound Peterbilt tractor-trailer and emergency responders were dispatched to the scene a short time later.
Stirling was reported as seriously injured but conscious and was transported to Garnet Health in Middletown. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, the victim succumbed to her injuries.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of this incident is being conducted.
