Pedestrian Fatalities in West Babylon

4.03 West Babylon, NY - Mumtaz Malik Struck, Killed on Rt 109 at East Dr

During the course of the last few years, several thousand pedestrians have been killed or sustained serious injuries during a pedestrian accident in New York. As reported by state-level government officials, in spite of the fact that less than 10% of car accidents in New York involve pedestrians, they generate the largest numbers of severely injured and fatal victims.

The pedestrian accident rate is at its highest in urban areas. For example, when studying data sets that encompass the whole state, New York City was the region in which nearly 75% of the state’s pedestrian-involved accidents occurred and the site of more than 50% of all pedestrian fatalities.
