Pedestrian Injuries in West Brighton

5.02 West Brighton, NY - Woman Struck by Police Vehicle During Accident at Broadway and Forest Ave

Pedestrians are becoming more and more prevalent throughout the state, and as the volume of pedestrians increases, so does the state’s rate of pedestrian-involved accidents. The New York Department of Transportation, which has been regularly analyzing pedestrian volume since the 2007 inception of the Pedestrian Volume Index, announced a rise of 13% in pedestrian traffic.

Drivers in New York are liable for exhibiting a duty of care that includes pedestrians in or near roadways as well as on sidewalks. New York driving laws assign particular duties to drivers where pedestrians are concerned, and when those laws are breached, pedestrians suffer the consequences.

Being injured in an auto-pedestrian accident can be an extremely disruptive, frightening, confusing, and overwhelming time in a person’s life. After being hurt in a pedestrian collision that was not your fault, the last things you need to be concerned with are the financial obligations and other stressors that only make physical recovery more challenging. Making sure that you have compassionate and skilled representation to fight for your rights so you don’t have to battle insurance companies on your own will go a long way toward helping you move forward.
