Whitewater, CA (July 17, 2023) – A vehicle veered off the 10 Freeway in Riverside County on Friday, July 14, 2023, causing tragedy.
The CHP responded to the crash at the Haugen-Lehmann Way off-ramp in Whitewater, east of Cabazon.
A white 2003 Honda Pilot driven by 29-year-old Mentone resident Samuel Stocker was speeding.
In a reckless maneuver, he abruptly cut across two lanes, losing control of the vehicle.
The Honda collided with a rock, overturning into a light pole, and all three occupants were ejected.
Stocker died at the scene, while a 30-year-old Banning woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing.
