According to reports from the Nevada Highway Patrol, a black-and-silver Dodge Ram 1500 traveling south on US-95 crossed the centerline, colliding head-on with a white KIA Optima traveling northbound at around 1:38 a.m. The left-front end of the Dodge struck the left-front end of the Kia, causing the Dodge to overturn and roll over the Kia.
The male driving the Dodge was ejected from the vehicle, according to reports from the NHP. The Dodge came to a rest on its roof and caught fire, blocking both lanes of traffic on the highway.
The Kia also overturned and came to a rest on its side. Its driver, identified as 37-year-old Zoraida Rios from Winnemucca, was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics. The driver of the Dodge was transported to Humboldt General Hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. No updates on his condition have been provided at this time.
