Woodhaven, NY – Pedestrian Fatality and Critical Injury on Woodhaven Blvd

Woodhaven, NY (November 20, 2023) – A tragic incident occurred on Woodhaven Blvd near Park Lane South in Woodhaven at 8:35 p.m. Saturday, November 18. Tonci Budija, 71, died and a 73-year-old man was critically injured after being struck by two separate vehicles while crossing the street.

A 23-year-old man driving a BMW sedan southbound on Woodhaven Blvd struck both pedestrians with the vehicle’s passenger-side mirror. Subsequently, a 22-year-old driving a Toyota sedan hit them following the BMW’s swerve to avoid the pedestrians.

Both victims were transported to New York-Presbyterian Queens. Budija succumbed to her injuries, while the man remains in critical but stable condition.

The drivers stayed at the scene and are not currently facing charges. Investigations into the incident and the relationship between the victims are ongoing.
