Woodside, NY (July 15, 2023) – A pedestrian lost their life in a collision that happened in Woodside on Thursday night, July 13. Emergency responders went to the scene shortly after the accident happened to render aid and determine how the incident occurred.
Sources report the wreck took place on the westbound Brooklyn Queens Expressway near Exit 40 and Roosevelt Avenue. It occurred just before 11:00 p.m., reports read.
Responders went to the scene to find the victim lying on the road with severe body and head trauma. EMS transported the man to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was pronounced deceased, authorities said. Preliminary reports by the NYPD determined that the driver of a 2005 Ford Explorer was driving in the center lane of the expressway when they struck the victim, who was attempting to cross the road.
The 55-year-old driver stayed at the scene and sustained no injuries, authorities reported. Police in Woodside continue to investigate the details of the collision.
