Hit-and-Run Accidents in Michigan
Hit-and-run accidents are among the most devastating incidents on Michigan’s roads, especially when they involve vulnerable pedestrians. Crashes where drivers flee the scene often result in more severe outcomes due to delayed emergency response and treatment. Highways like I-96 pose significant risks for pedestrians, even on shoulders, due to the high speeds and heavy traffic.
In the aftermath of a hit-and-run, securing immediate medical attention is crucial for survival and recovery. Emergency responders, including paramedics, work swiftly to stabilize and transport critically injured victims to the hospital for advanced care.
Michigan law provides victims of hit-and-run accidents, or their families, the right to pursue compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and other damages. If the responsible driver is identified, they can be held accountable through both civil and criminal proceedings. Even if the driver remains unidentified, victims may be able to seek compensation through uninsured motorist coverage policies.
In addition to physical injuries, victims and their families often experience lasting emotional trauma. Counseling and emotional support are important parts of the healing process following such devastating events.
