Christian Co, MO (December 4, 2025) – A multi-vehicle collision on Wednesday afternoon west of Ozark left four individuals with injuries. The crash occurred along Route CC, approximately half a mile west of the city limits, and involved a chain reaction between three vehicles.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that the crash took place at approximately 3:27 p.m. on December 3. A 2013 Suzuki SX4, driven by a 31-year-old man from Nixa, MO, was traveling westbound when it struck the rear of a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse. The force of that impact caused the Traverse, driven by a 73-year-old man from Ozark, to strike the back of a 2015 Ford F-150 that was also heading west. The Ford was being operated by a 31-year-old man from Highlandville, MO.

The Suzuki was extensively damaged and had to be towed from the scene by Kenny’s Wrecker. The Chevrolet Traverse sustained moderate damage, while the Ford F-150 had only minor damage. Both were driven from the scene without assistance.

Four people were injured in the crash. The driver of the Suzuki and the driver of the Chevrolet Traverse were each transported by private vehicle to Cox South Hospital in Springfield. The driver of the Ford F-150 and his 45-year-old passenger, both from Ozark, were taken to Cox Urgent Care in Ozark. All involved individuals were reportedly wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, which likely prevented more severe injuries.

Trooper G. T. Hackett of Troop D conducted the investigation. No further details regarding citations or contributing factors have been released.

Rear-End and Chain-Reaction Crashes in Missouri

Collisions involving multiple vehicles, particularly rear-end chain reactions, are a common occurrence on Missouri’s roadways. These crashes often happen when traffic slows suddenly, and drivers are unable to stop in time. Even at moderate speeds, the impact of one vehicle hitting another can quickly escalate into a multi-car crash with widespread consequences.

Route CC near Ozark is a busy corridor used frequently by commuters and local drivers. Late afternoon traffic tends to be heavier, especially as drivers head home from work or school. Conditions such as distracted driving, tailgating, or sudden braking often play a role in rear-end crashes along these routes.

In this case, the driver of the Suzuki was the initiating vehicle in the chain-reaction collision, setting off a series of impacts that resulted in injuries to all drivers and one passenger. While injuries were classified as minor, soft tissue trauma and whiplash are common in rear-end impacts and can worsen over time. Medical evaluation remains crucial, even when victims are transported by private vehicle rather than ambulance.

Crashes involving three or more vehicles can also complicate the claims process, especially when determining fault and managing repairs or medical bills. Victims in such incidents should take care to document the crash thoroughly and seek both medical and legal guidance to ensure their rights are protected.
