Stockton, CA (January 1, 2026) – Emergency crews were called to a significant multi-vehicle collision with injuries on Interstate 5 southbound, just north of the Monte Diablo Ave offramp, early on December 31. The California Highway Patrol classified the incident as a major injury crash, with initial reports indicating as many as six vehicles were involved.
Responding units arrived at the scene shortly after 2:30 a.m. and found a chaotic situation involving several disabled vehicles, including a silver Honda Civic and a white pickup truck. At least one person was found lying on the ground next to a vehicle, and another was reportedly transported to a nearby emergency department for treatment. The crash temporarily blocked multiple lanes and led to major traffic disruptions in the early morning hours.
Officers and emergency personnel worked diligently to manage the scene, assist the injured, and arrange for multiple tows.
