Vallejo, CA (January 5, 2026) – A two-vehicle collision on Interstate 80 in Vallejo claimed the life of one man and injured two others Sunday morning, prompting a temporary closure of westbound lanes and a major response from emergency personnel.
The crash occurred around 8:00 a.m. along westbound I-80, just east of Redwood Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, a white Honda Accord and a blue Toyota Prius were involved in the deadly collision.
The driver of the Honda Accord, identified only as a Hispanic man in his 30s, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment.
The driver of the Prius was also taken to the hospital, though officials described their injuries as minor and precautionary, involving a complaint of pain.
Multiple westbound lanes of the interstate were temporarily closed as CHP officers investigated the scene and worked to clear the wreckage. All lanes were reopened to traffic by 9:30 a.m.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding what may have led to the fatal impact.
