Riverside, CA (January 6, 2026) – A high-speed crash involving several vehicles disrupted traffic and resulted in injuries Monday night on westbound State Route 91 just east of Central Ave.
The collision, which occurred on January 5, involved a white BMW reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed before crashing into a gold or brown Toyota Camry. At least two other vehicles, including a black Mercedes and a blue Ford Fusion, were also involved in the chain-reaction crash. The BMW came to rest blocking multiple lanes, while the other vehicles were found along the right shoulder.
Paramedics were called to the scene shortly after 8:50 p.m., where medics evaluated occupants for injuries. At least one individual required medical attention, though the extent of injuries remains unclear at this time. Tow units from multiple companies were dispatched to remove the disabled vehicles, including one confirmed hot tow for the blue Ford Fusion.
Fire crews arrived to find the BMW obstructing the No. 3 and No. 4 lanes, and traffic was heavily impacted as authorities worked to manage the scene. Investigators noted that the BMW’s speed may have been a contributing factor, but a full determination is still pending.
The California Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, including whether reckless driving or other violations played a role.
Our thoughts are with those injured in this serious incident, and we wish them a full recovery.
