Greensboro, NC (January 7, 2026) – A pedestrian was struck and killed early Tuesday morning in a tragic crash on a highway ramp in Greensboro. Officers with the Greensboro Police Department responded to the fatal incident around 3:22 a.m. on the I-785 North ramp leading from I-40 West.

Authorities reported that a vehicle traveling along the ramp struck a pedestrian who was unlawfully walking in the travel lane. Following the initial impact, the pedestrian was hit by several additional vehicles. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.

Police confirmed that neither speed nor impairment appeared to have contributed to the crash. An investigation is ongoing to determine the full sequence of events and identify the deceased.
