Bakersfield, CA (January 8, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash led to injuries and vehicle damage Thursday afternoon along E Panama Ln near the Kern Oil and Refining facility in southeast Bakersfield. According to officials, the accident occurred shortly before 12:15 p.m., involving a blue Toyota SUV and a black vehicle.
Preliminary reports from the California Highway Patrol indicated both vehicles sustained damage and were left disabled in the roadway. The Toyota suffered moderate front-end damage and was towed from the scene by Golden Empire Towing. One vehicle came to rest in the westbound lane, creating a traffic hazard for approaching drivers.
Paramedics assessed individuals involved and reported minor injuries at the scene. The crash prompted a temporary response upgrade to a more serious medical call, which was then reclassified. Despite the moderate impact, there were no reports of life-threatening injuries.
Both vehicles were rendered undriveable, and officials worked swiftly to clear the roadway and restore normal traffic flow. CHP officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
