Dulzura, CA (January 9, 2026) – A tragic collision on State Route 94 claimed the life of a motorcyclist Wednesday morning after a crash involving an on-duty firefighter near Campbell Ranch Rd, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:45 a.m. directly in front of Cal Fire Station 30. Investigators report that a Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 33-year-old firefighter who was arriving for duty, was heading eastbound on SR-94 when it made a left turn into a driveway. During the turn, the vehicle collided with a Yamaha motorcycle traveling westbound.
The impact threw the 30-year-old motorcyclist from Chula Vista from his bike. Despite an immediate emergency response, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of his family.
The firefighter suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported to a hospital for evaluation and treatment. Authorities have stated that neither drugs nor alcohol is suspected to have played a role in the incident.
Both directions of SR-94 were closed for several hours while CHP conducted their investigation and crews worked to clear the wreckage. The roadway reopened later that morning.
