Surprise, AZ (January 9, 2026) – A deadly collision involving a big rig and multiple vehicles occurred early on Friday morning at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Dysart Road in Surprise, resulting in the tragic death of 35-year-old Christopher Sehak. The crash took place at approximately 3:00 a.m. on January 2, according to local authorities.
Surprise Police and emergency medical crews arrived on scene shortly after the crash was reported. A blue Toyota Prius was among the vehicles involved in the incident. Multiple people sustained injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment. The severity of their conditions has not been publicly confirmed.
Sadly, Christopher Sehak was pronounced dead as a result of the collision. His identity was confirmed by the Surprise Police Department later that day.
Grand Avenue was closed in both directions for several hours as first responders worked to assist the injured, investigate the crash, and remove the wreckage. According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, all lanes were reopened by approximately 9:30 a.m.
Authorities have not yet released information on the circumstances that led to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
