Chicago, IL (January 9, 2026) – A vehicle crash on the outbound lanes of Interstate 57 resulted in injuries Thursday night, with one person transported to St. Bernard Hospital for treatment. The incident initially appeared to involve property damage only, but EMS later confirmed injuries at the scene.
The crash occurred shortly after 10:00 p.m. near the I-57 corridor west of downtown Chicago. Emergency dispatch records indicate that EMS was notified at approximately 10:09 p.m., and Ambulance 60 was assigned to the call. The state police were also alerted to assist with traffic control and investigation.
Despite initial reports suggesting minor damage, at least one individual was evaluated and transported for further care. That person was taken to St. Bernard Hospital by ambulance for medical attention. Their condition has not yet been disclosed.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident to determine what caused the crash. Traffic in the area was briefly impacted while emergency crews worked to clear the scene.
