Charlotte, NC (January 10, 2026) – A serious rollover crash on southbound I-77 near the Berkshire Boulevard exit in Charlotte prompted a full highway shutdown Thursday afternoon and left one person injured and drifting in and out of consciousness.
The crash occurred around 3:10 p.m. and involved a blue Ford Fiesta that overturned on the interstate. Emergency medical services and highway patrol units responded to the scene, where the sole occupant was reported to be trapped inside the flipped vehicle. The patient’s condition was described as unstable, with fluctuating consciousness.
Medic 20 was dispatched as a priority trauma response, and additional metro units were requested to assist with securing the scene and managing the full closure of I-77 Southbound. Traffic in the area was severely impacted while crews worked to treat the injured and investigate the cause of the crash.
The identity and age of the injured individual have not been released. No information has yet been provided regarding the factors contributing to the rollover.
