Doniphan, NE (January 10, 2026) – A major multi-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck resulted in injuries to seven individuals on January 9 near the intersection of Clarice St and Highway 281, just outside Doniphan. The collision occurred at approximately 6:49 p.m. and drew an extensive emergency response from Hall County deputies and the Nebraska State Patrol.
According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began when a red Cadillac attempted to turn onto Hwy 281 from a Dollar General parking lot and collided with a southbound semi tractor-trailer. The initial impact triggered a chain reaction involving a total of six vehicles.
Seven people sustained injuries in the crash, with one victim transported to a nearby hospital in life-threatening condition. The remaining six were also hospitalized with varying degrees of injuries. Weather conditions at the time were reported to have played a role in the crash.
Due to the scale of the incident, the Hall County Accident Reconstruction Team was called in to assist. Authorities shut down portions of the roadway for several hours as crews worked to investigate and clear the scene.
During the response, a Hall County Sheriff’s Office patrol unit that was assisting with traffic control was struck by another vehicle. The patrol car sustained significant damage, but the deputy inside was uninjured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Nebraska State Patrol and the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
