Sacramento, CA (January 11, 2026) – A deadly crash occurred early on Friday morning in East Sacramento when a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle near a light rail station on Folsom Blvd. The incident was first reported at approximately 6:54 a.m. on January 9, in the area between 9300 and 9387 Folsom Blvd, just in front of the IFO Light Rail Station.
Emergency responders, including fire crews and paramedics, arrived swiftly and located the pedestrian down in the roadway. Despite efforts to provide emergency care, the victim succumbed to their injuries. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) later confirmed the incident as a fatality at 8:56 a.m.
Preliminary information from CHP logs indicates that the crash involved a silver sedan, which struck the pedestrian under still-uncertain circumstances. The driver remained at the scene, but as of this writing, no arrests have been reported in connection with the collision.
The area was temporarily closed off as CHP and emergency personnel conducted an on-scene investigation and cleared the roadway. No identifying details about the pedestrian have been made public, pending family notification.
The cause of the crash is still under active investigation by CHP, and authorities are asking any witnesses or individuals with additional information to come forward.
