Toombs County, GA (January 13, 2026) – A tragic two-vehicle collision claimed one life on Monday evening at the intersection of Highway 4 and Five Points Road, according to information released by Toombs County authorities and the Georgia State Patrol.
The crash occurred around 5:21 p.m. and involved a Toombs County Sheriff’s Office transport pickup truck and a privately owned van. Investigators report that the van entered the intersection without yielding and crossed into the path of the northbound sheriff’s pickup, which was traveling in the left lane of Highway 4.
The impact was severe, and the driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders arrived quickly to assist and assess the situation. The deputy driving the sheriff’s transport vehicle sustained injuries and was transported to Meadows Health Hospital for evaluation and treatment.
The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is leading the investigation into the crash. Authorities have not released the names of those involved, and no additional details have been confirmed regarding the circumstances leading up to the collision.
