San Diego, CA (January 13, 2026) – A pedestrian sustained serious injuries after being struck by a train traveling at approximately 35 mph near Arbor Dr on January 12, prompting a full trauma response and a coordinated effort between local law enforcement and emergency medical teams.
Initial reports indicate that the pedestrian was not hit by the first stopped train near the platform, but rather by a separate train several platforms away. Emergency crews from Medic 24 responded swiftly, stabilizing the injured individual at the scene with cervical spine precautions before initiating transport to UCSD Medical Center. A trauma team was alerted in advance due to the severity of the impact.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, which holds jurisdiction over the incident, was already on scene along with support from the San Diego Police Department. Officials worked together to secure the area and manage the scene as additional information emerged.
The pedestrian’s condition has not been officially disclosed, and their identity has not yet been released. The cause of the incident remains under investigation as authorities examine whether the individual was on or near the tracks unlawfully or if other contributing factors were involved.
Our thoughts are with the injured pedestrian, and we hope for a full and timely recovery.
