Lexington County, SC (January 13, 2026) – A tragic collision claimed the life of a pedestrian early Tuesday morning in Lexington County after they were struck by a vehicle near a busy intersection just south of Lexington.
The fatal incident occurred around 6:45 a.m. near the intersection of Platt Springs Rd and South Lake Dr. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling westbound on Platt Springs Rd when it hit a pedestrian who was in the roadway. The individual struck died at the scene from their injuries.
The driver and a passenger in the SUV were not injured. At this time, authorities have not released the identity of the victim, and further details surrounding the circumstances of the crash have not been confirmed.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident to determine the factors that led to the collision.
