Lima, OH (January 15, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Collett St and Spring St in Lima on Tuesday evening resulted in multiple injuries, with two individuals transported to the hospital, according to the Lima Police Department.
The accident occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m. when a westbound vehicle on Spring St, driven by 30-year-old Marcayla Thomas of Lima, entered the intersection and was struck by another vehicle operated by 22-year-old Colton Cooper, also of Lima. Both drivers claimed they had a green light at the time of the crash.
Following the investigation, Cooper was cited for a red light violation. Additionally, Thomas informed officers that she did not have active insurance coverage.
Thomas and her 9-year-old passenger, Martin Cockrell, were transported to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center with minor injuries. Two other children in Thomas’s vehicle, Samiiya Cockrell, 11, and Cariiya Cockrell, 4, received care at the scene.
Cooper and his passenger, 18-year-old Brizan Wilmoth, were also treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The collision caused temporary disruption in the area as emergency crews provided assistance and documented the scene. Authorities have concluded the preliminary investigation and issued the relevant citations.
