Los Angeles, CA (January 18, 2026) – First responders rushed to the scene of a two-vehicle crash early Saturday morning involving a self-driving vehicle and a gray SUV, resulting in injuries and significant traffic disruption along South Fairfax Avenue.
The collision occurred at approximately 4:43 a.m. on January 17 near the 9000 block of S Fairfax Ave. According to dispatch reports, the incident involved a white Jaguar operated by Waymo, reportedly with no passenger onboard, and a gray Honda Pilot. Emergency crews noted visible front-end damage to the autonomous vehicle and confirmed airbag deployment in the SUV.
Paramedics provided immediate care to the injured at the scene, though the number and severity of injuries have not been officially confirmed. Law enforcement and traffic units from the West Bureau also responded, coordinating with fire personnel and blocking off portions of the northbound lanes to manage the scene.
