San Antonio, TX (January 19, 2026) – Two San Antonio police officers were injured early Monday morning when their patrol vehicle was struck by a driver who reportedly ran a red light on the city’s Northwest Side, according to local officials.
The collision occurred just before 8 a.m. on January 19 at the intersection of Bandera Rd and Loop 1604. Witnesses told investigators that the civilian driver failed to stop at a red light and collided with the officers’ vehicle, which was proceeding through a green light at the time of the crash.
Following the impact, both officers were conscious and able to communicate with first responders. Paramedics transported them by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. One officer sustained head injuries, while the other was treated for neck and back injuries, according to statements at the scene.
The civilian driver was reportedly unhurt and, according to police, is not expected to face charges in connection with the incident. At the time of the crash, the officers were not responding to an active call.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the collision.
