Tucson, AZ (January 20, 2026) – A major traffic collision with life-threatening injuries occurred Monday afternoon on W Ajo Way, prompting a full intersection shutdown and an extensive emergency response.
The incident took place around 3:25 p.m. and involved multiple vehicles. Emergency crews arriving on scene quickly assessed the severity of the crash and requested the entire intersection be closed to allow medics and law enforcement to safely manage the situation.
Several patients sustained injuries, some of which were described as life-threatening. Multiple individuals were transported to Banner University Medical Center South and Banner Main for advanced care.
Due to the seriousness of the crash, traffic was halted in all directions surrounding the area. Officers coordinated traffic control to support medical crews and facilitate access for rescue vehicles.
